Set in colonial Indochina in the 1920s, where a French teen girl, while returning to the boarding house in Saigon that she lives in while attending high school there, meets a wealthy Chinese man in his thirties. Feeling an attraction towards each other, the two begin a torrid affair that must never be known by anyone, especially her brothers. Apart from the age gap, their relationship also faces trouble as he is engaged in an arranged marriage to a wealthy woman.
