When a group of college students finds a mysterious book and recording in the old wilderness cabin they've rented for the weekend, they unwittingly unleash a demonic force from the surrounding forest.《屍變》為美國出產的恐怖電影作品。上映前，美國導演山姆·雷米運用從當地律師與牙醫師籌募而來資金35萬美金，困難的選擇在荒郊野外拍攝，大約歷時三個月製作完成。但是，本片在美國地區推銷時，卻處處碰壁，電影公司都對此片興趣缺缺，所以最初僅有英國地區才有上映。
